Sharing is caring!

I would like to share with all the moms out there how I save money on baby diapers. It took me until my second pregnancy to figure out how to do this and I won’t let this happen to you all!

\When I was pregnant with my firstborn, I stocked up on all the Pampers diapers I could get my hands on. I was lucky to have received a ton of diapers at my baby shower. As we already know, those do not last very long.

Cost of Diapers

Each brand of diapers has a different cost. There are so many brands of diapers I probably do not even know all of them.

I have always stuck with Pampers with occasional Huggies if I had a coupon for them. With my son, I paid full price for every pack or box of diapers and I feel so ridiculous now. I HOPE YOU NEVER DO THIS! And if you do please continue to learn how NOT to make the same mistakes I did.

By the time my son was a year, we had spent thousands and thousands of dollars on diapers. So, when I got pregnant with my daughter, I knew I needed to figure out another system seeing as I would not have TWO kids needing diapers.

Cloth Diapers

The first option to save on diapers is using cloth diapers. I decided against this for my own reasons but I know for a fact, that it would have saved me money. I just saw a ton more laundry and the pressure to be sure they were always washed, dried, and put away. It just made my anxiety soars and I decided against it.

However, I highly recommend you look at trying this if you aren’t the same ridiculous chicken I am for doing things out of the normal routine.

Coupons

Alright, mamas, coupons are an amazing thing. Finding coupons for other household items always feels like such a hassle. Getting coupons for diapers does not require a newspaper subscription or some costly app.

There are a few apps I recommend that often have Pampers, Huggies, and Luvs diaper coupons available almost every week.

The following stores have phone apps that you can download, create an account, and save coupons to use to buy diapers:

  • Dollar General
  • Family Dollar
  • CVS
  • Walgreens
  • Target (I am going to talk more about this)

Target circle deals

Target, oh my favorite place in the world! When you sign up for Target Circle you get access to a bunch of savings as well as 5% off every time you use your card.

You do not need to open a credit card to have Target Circle and the way my card is set up is it is linked to my debit card.

With Target Circle, you go on the Target app and click on the ‘Baby’ tab. There you will see all of the diaper coupons and add them to your card.

When you go to check out, you will get those savings!

Another Target circle deal that exists for diapers is their Target Circle Diaper Deals. These vary from time to time and do not happen every week. You have to keep an eye on their weekly ad!

For example, this week their deal is Buy 2 get $15 Target GiftCard with same-day order services.

You have to be sure the pack you pick qualifies.

For this, I grab 2 Size 4 Pampers Swaddlers 120 count boxes.

In addition, there is a 10% off coupon to click (this is in-store or online).

So, I am getting 240 diapers, 10% off, and a $15 Target GiftCard to use at a later date (probably on more diapers).

These deals are a great time to stock up on larger sizes for future use.

Amazon Subscribe and Save

Amazon Subscribe and Save is a program for specific items to help save a percentage off of auto-delivery. I have seen anywhere from 5-15% off with S&S services with Amazon.

Pampers Club App

This app has saved me so much money just for buying diapers. You could have bought a pack of diapers with a coupon or gift card and it won’t matter.

On the inside of every diaper pack, there is a scannable barcode. All you have to do is install the Pampers Club app that looks like the picture below and create an account. Every time you scan the code, you get “Pampers Cash”. You are able to redeem dollar-off coupons when you reach a certain amount. You can also use the “cash” to earn gift cards.

This is what I did the first time. I have $30 worth of gift cards to get. I decided to get all $30 to Target to further save on diapers, formula, or wipes.

The other great thing is if you buy a large pack, each individual pack in the box will have a scannable code sticker, so you aren’t getting scammed by buying the bigger box.

There are so many reward options that you can pick from which is amazing!

Store Brand Diapers

There are pros and cons to buying store-brand diapers.

Pros:

  • Cheaper
  • Are sometimes included in Target Circle offers

Cons:

  • Cheaper material usually
  • Might need to change more frequently
  • No coupons
  • Not usually on sale

I have bought the Up & Up brand diapers for my son before and the open pack is still under his crib. He will leak through them really quickly and I find myself having to change them sooner than I would if he just had on a Pampers Diaper.

I have only ever tried Target brand diapers so I cannot attest to other store brands like Kirkland’s or Parent’s Choice.

Conclusion

Diapers are probably the one expense you cannot avoid as a parent (unless you do cloth diapers). I do my best to find the best brands to use and the best ways to save on those brands so we do not spend too much on diapers.
