This blog is to help new moms find the best baby items to feed your baby!

I have been through the newborn phase twice now and let me just say that no two babies are the same. How my firstborn drank and ate, my secondborn did not. With this being said, I am going to discuss the baby items for feeding that made my life easier.

There are so many baby products out there, and if you are a new mom-to-be, you may not even know where to start!

Follow this organized guide to help you organize your baby registry!

Baby Registry

Speaking of a baby registry- there are many ways to go about your registry. You can do an all-in-one baby registry through Baby List! When you put an item on your registry through Baby List, it allows you to buy from multiple locations and helps to find the best price.

Another option for baby registries is Target or Amazon- which I always think are great! They have free baby items for completing your registry and give you discounts on items when you purchase them from your own registry!

I even made a baby registry before the birth of our second child. I did this, not because I expected anyone to buy me gifts for a second baby, but because it helped me organize what I needed for her, and I got a discount for buying these items.

Breastfeeding vs. Bottle feeding

I am very passionate about this discussion because I have done both, and they both worked for my babies. Remember, this post is about finding the best baby items to feed your baby- this includes both bottle and breastfeeding!

“A FED BABY IS A HAPPY BABY!!!”

There is so much pressure to breastfeed. I never thought about bottle feeding until my firstborn would not latch. After weeks of tears and visits to the lactation consultant, I found myself full of dread and swirling the bucket of post-partum depression.

I exclusively pumped for my first child for 6+ months then switched to half-and-half with formula and that worked for us.

For my second child, she actually latched.  I was completely shocked because I was ready to only formula-feed. Eventually, she was not successfully feeding and I found myself exclusively pumping again. I had promised myself that I would not put myself through that again, and I didn’t.

Baby formula worked for us with her.

She was fed. We were both happy. And that was all that mattered.

With all of that said, I want to talk about what helped each feeding go smoothly during each pregnancy.

Read all about the benefit of breastfeeding here.

Feeding Items

Bottle Drying Rack– Having a specific area for drying bottles made me feel like the bottles were going to remain clean after washing. It also helped prevent water spots that you get from the dishwasher sometimes.

Medela Bottles and nipples– I used Medela bottles and nipples with both kids. My first breast pump was a Medela and they attached right on. Honestly, your baby will choose which bottles are best for them.

Bibs– I have cloth bibs for bottle feeding and catch bibs for solid foods. You will probably be gifted bibs, and if you find yourself

with an overabundance of bibs, pack them away for future children- you’ll need them!

High Chair– We just used a feeding chair that goes right on the kitchen chair. It helps save space and it works just fine. We have had it for both of our kids, and I am so glad we did not get a big high chair. We just wouldn’t have had the room.

Breastfeeding

Breast pump– If you plan to breastfeed, you need to get a breast pump. They are expensive, no matter which you get. But YOU ARE IN LUCK! You are entitled to a FREE breast pump through insurance!

Go to AeroFlow Breast pumps and input your insurance information. They will give you a list of either free or discounted breast pumps that you can pick from!

Nursing Milk collectors– I did not use these with my firstborn as he did not latch. With my second, she would nurse on one side and all of the milk from the other side would get everywhere. After some research, I found these great milk collectors and they worked great to prevent wasting during feeding

Nursing Bra– I used a nursing bra even when I was pumping with my son. You do not have to spend a bunch of money on fancy ones. You can get this 3-pack here off amazon for $30. Other places will charge you $30 for one.

You might also want a pumping bra. You can get one for around $20 similar to this one. I have also seen bras that you can unclip to nurse, but also unclip to pump. Pretty cool and very efficient!

Milk Storage Bags– I have seen various opinions on which bags are the best for storage. I have tried a few different brands but I really like the Medela Breast Milk Storage Bags. They feel sturdier than the Lanoush ones that I have heard good things about. Whichever breast milk bag works best for you, works!

Boppy Nursing Pillow– I am sure you could use anything to lean your arms on while feeding, but as your baby grows, the Boppy nursing pillow continues to be helpful.
